With Tenerife travel being so frequent and the fact it is a busy tourist destination almost all year round the island itself must prepare for all tastes and interests with people travelling from many countries worldwide.
When it comes to cuisine you will find that a lot if not all ingredients are grown locally and the evidence is in the taste of the food you might sample from a number of the fine restaurants available on the island. The main produce is subtropical fruits that if you head to a market you can just smell the freshness. With a big fishing culture on the island the seafood dishes you will find are top class and again very fresh. Many goats are kept on the island itself for the production of cheese. Eating at local restaurant makes for cheap Tenerife dining plus you are taking in a little culture along the way. Another very tasty produce of the island is a potato called Bonita which can be a little expensive but is probably the best potato you will eat.
Many resorts will have vineyards that make their own wines and you should be able to find time to visit and try some, and maybes then pick up a bottle or two as presents or perhaps in memory of your holidays to Tenerife. There is also a wine museum in El Sauzal that’s worth a visit.
Although Tenerife does produce a lot of its own foods goods 90% of food is important and this is due to the masses of tourism it has become a necessity to have items that most travellers are accustomed to.
To holiday Tenerife style you really must immerse yourself in the cuisine as it will become a key factor that makes your holiday memorable.
